Research

I'm an incoming PhD student in Mechanical Engineering at Iowa State University, joining as a Graduate Teaching Assistant in Fall 2026. My research interests include advanced manufacturing, materials, and fluid mechanics. I have worked on multi-scale modeling of cold spray additive manufacturing and molecular dynamics simulation of nanomaterial sintering. I enjoy using simulation tools to understand complex physical processes and solve engineering problems.

Research experience

Sep 2024 – Jun 2026
Multi-scale modelling of cold spray additive manufacturing
Undergraduate Researcher, Dr. Anup Saha Lab — with Dr. Semih Akin, RPI
  • CFD simulation of supersonic gas flow in ANSYS Fluent using a steady-state, pressure-based solver with a realizable k–ε turbulence model to capture compressibility effects and shock waves.
  • Two-way turbulence-coupled discrete phase modelling with a Lagrangian particle-tracking scheme and the discrete random walk (DRW) model.
  • Investigated how vacuum environments affect impact velocity and radial dispersion of particles of varying size in Cold Spray Additive Manufacturing (CSAM).

Molecular dynamics of silver-coated nanocopper sintering
Undergraduate Researcher, Dr. Sheikh Mohammad Shavik Lab — undergraduate thesis
  • Molecular dynamics simulation of low-temperature sintering of Ag@Cu nanoparticles in LAMMPS, for printed-electronics applications.
  • Studied how shell thickness, sintering temperature, and heating/cooling rate shape sintering kinetics and structural evolution.
  • Core-shell sintering model with EAM potential, NVT ensemble, and a Nosé–Hoover thermostat.
  • Post-processing in Python — centre-of-mass tracking, neck growth, MSD, and Ackland–Jones structural analysis.

System simulation in GT-SUITE
Undergraduate Researcher, CAE Lab – RISE
  • 0D/1D lumped-parameter and FEM-coupled system modelling for multi-physics performance prediction and optimisation.
  • Cabin thermal management and thermal comfort in battery electric vehicles.
